If you think we packed in a lot into half a day, just wait until you hear how our second day/ first full day went! 33,852 steps and 203 minutes of exercise later we had walked over half of the strip, and back along with heading out on the tram for our dinner and Cirque du Soleil show!
Walking… We spent lots of time walking both inside the casinos and outside on the strip. At first it was really nice to be out in the 100 degree weather. We grabbed lunch while we were out and about walking from one place to another. I got a salad because I knew that it would be good for me to have veggies at least once on the trip.
My dinner was mostly the huge shake with the ice cream sandwich on the top! It was amazing!!! One thing I really wanted was a fancy huge shake: check! I also picked the show type that we got to go see. Last time we vacationed at Vegas, we saw The Blue Man Group. It was cool! I really wanted to see Cirque du Soleil. So that is what we went to see last week! I have never seen a show that my jaw dropped open and stayed open for so long!
Mystère is about the journey of life. It started with two baby carriages on the stage. We went in to get seated and had to listen to baby noises as we waited for the show to start. They had two main narrators, and an older man playing a baby. There was a lady playing a toddler, and a man playing a bird. These 5 characters were the entertainment while the acts changed multiple times and they were in some of the acts, too. I was never scared about them falling. From the third row right in front of the half circle theater, we could see almost everything, even the people up behind us hanging from the ceiling playing drums. It was probably my favorite show that I have ever seen!
It is a beautiful thing to be amazed. The smooth change between scenes/ acts made our attention go away from what was changing at just the right time, and for the perfect amount of time, too. Not only that, but the trust and strength they had in themselves and between each other was nothing like I had ever seen. The trapeze work was incredible! One person fell, but my jaw still was open the whole time as they kept on swinging and jumping and catching each other.
I learned how to trust myself the most when I did aerial yoga. It took a lot of upper arm strength along with allowing myself to “fall” in the hammock and trust that I could catch myself when the time was right. I took classes for a whole year at the Y, and about once a month for 5 months last winter. I knew that it was a start into the circus realm, but I didn’t realize how close yet far away until I was watching the circus.
We then went back to the hotel. We could hear the Bellagio fountains as we went to sleep. It was not until our third night there when we realized that we could see a part of the fountains along with a reflection of the rest on the hotel next to us.
We still had one more full day of adventuring and then we headed to the Grand Canyon… Yes, we do a lot on vacation. No, we do not take much time to sit and relax. We do the most with the time we have. This is how I hope to always live – sometime to relax, but also time to make the most of the time we have wherever we go.
Cheers! – Em
