The week before last I was eagerly awaiting my vacation. My family and I went to Las Vegas a week ago. We all met up at the Paris Hotel, and we had a really great time! Last week as I anticipated leaving, it was challenging for me to keep busy enough to not want to snap my fingers and be there already. I knew that no matter how much I wanted to, I do not have the power to make time go any faster or slower. So I took one moment at a time while waiting to leave, being there, and coming home. Each minute took 60 seconds. Each hour took 60 minutes. Each day was only 24 hours. I could not change it no matter how much I wanted to.
We did not go into our vacation time having every detail planned. We knew that we had some things we really wanted to do, and that we were going to have at least one meal a day together. We started off meeting up in the hotel. I got to change from leggings and a tank top into a dress as it was over 100 degrees each day we were there. We walked around the strip and landed at one of Gordon Ramsay’s restaurants. This was on the list of one of the things we wanted to do, we just were not expecting to hit it on night one. There we were, no wait to be seated, drinks round the table, and soon we would be eating food of of Gordon’s menu. Our minds were blown.
The meal was amazing! I got the fish and chips. THE BEST FISH AND CHIPS IN MY LIFE!!! I got a drink called the Waterlily, and a brownie for desert. So so good. I was full, but knew that this was my change to taste Gordon’s food so I did. We were a little in disbelief on how easily dinner went, and found our way to see the Bellagio fountains which were as beautiful as I remembered. We split ways and went to bed as we did at least 17,000 steps even with the 3 1/2 hour plane ride.
I was so glad to be there; I tried my hardest to be present in each moment as I knew that we only had a few days there. I would say it was a successful first day. I knew that it was only going to get better each day as we went along.
Now – everything was not perfect as nothing ever really is. We did have a medical emergency on our flight. Thankfully the person got the help they needed, and we did not have to land anywhere random. There were medical people on the flight who were able to help until we landed. This incident happened only about an hour and a half into the flight, so we were not even half way there… But it all ended up okay.
We had some other stress filled moments, too. But we worked through them, I prayed for and got patience to get through checking bags, going through security, getting bags at the other end, getting into our first ever Uber to get to the hotel. All in all, it was a good day. Don’t let the makeup, dress and good story fool you that it was all perfect.
I have learned to not set many expectations – this way I can be impressed by little things in life along with the big moments. I was impressed at how the flight attendants and doctors on the plane kept their cool and kept the flight going. I was impressed by the pilots who got all of us there safely. My taste buds were delighted by the drink and food at THE restaurant. I was impressed by the Bellagio fountains. God’s hand was in every part of our trip, and this was only the beginning.
Tomorrow I will share about our next day on the trip as we explored and got to see the show Mystère by Cirque du Soleil!
Cheers – Em
