A Time for 100!

Thank you for sticking with me as I figure out my writing voice. You are now reading my 100th blog post. (Insert confetti poppers!!)

I remember figuring out that I had choreographed over 100 dance numbers, and I was amazed at how quickly and dare I say easy it was to get to that number. Writing is a little different. I had to create my own boundaries on my writing and figure out my own time to work on it. A lot of people say they are going to start a blog and only post a few times. A lot of people say that they want to write a book and never do. A lot of dance teachers tell their dancers “one more time…” and it is not actually the last time. I have tried very hard to stay true to what I say both as a dance teacher and a writer.

I decided a long time ago that I would not loosely say “one more time” in the studio. – I only ever will say it if I really mean it, or give it context as in one more time before we go into the next thing. As a blog writer, I try to avoid the words “just,” “should,” or telling you what not to do. I think it is important to give credit where credit is due and not undermine ourselves by using the word “just.” I have heard many podcasters say that they choose not to “should” people, and I try not to either. I also think it is best to think about the things we can do or add to life rather than thinking about what to stop or quit as when we keep things positive we are more likely to follow through with it.

As I have mentioned, I plan on spending most of my writing time this coming year figuring out writing my first book. I want to write about following through on your dreams. It may sound cheesy, but I have been able to make some of my childhood dreams come true, and I keep planning and dreaming up more ideas and taking actions to complete them. Being a dance teacher is a big one. Seeing The Lion King on Broadway in NYC was another. Traveling overseas is soon to be completed.

I see it as a gift to be able to make my dreams come true, and I hope to be able to help guide other people to their dreams through my book, too.

What does this mean for the blog? Well, now that I have reached 100 posts, I am not going to stop here. I will continue to post when I want to rather than making it feel like I have to post something.

I again want to thank you for coming along on my writing journey, and I am excited to see what I am able to create for my first book. (I keep saying my first book because I hope to write more than one book in my lifetime. I am keeping hope alive that I will finish the first one and also write a second or maybe even more books over time.)

Cheers to continuing writing, learning and dreaming!
