In case you were wondering, there are only 157 days left in 2022. We are currently on day 208 (if you are reading this when I publish it on July 27th, 2022.)
Last night there was a ‘Big Bang Theory’ episode on tv. Leonard was trying to think of what Penny and he had done that year that would be worthy of noting on a Christmas card to send out to friends and family. They couldn’t come up with anything.
Have you thought about your Christmas card for the year yet? Have you made plans that would be worthy enough to mention on said card. If not, it is okay. You still have 151 days to make plans before Christmas. (Unless you celebrate Christmas in July – which just passed.)
Some things I would list on my Christmas card for this year are: Completed my 6th dance season, and my mom finally got to come to my dance recital as a teacher! Went to the PAC here in town to see Frozen, and will be going to see Mean Girls that Musical in August! Started a new job – one that will let me use my Health and Wellness college Degree! Went to Lifest! Heading to Las Vegas in two weeks! Along with whatever else pops up in between now and then, I am doing what I can to make the most of this year.
On the ‘That Sounds Fun’ podcast by Annie F Downs, she ends each episode asking whoever she is interviewing, “What sounds fun to you?” Some people say extravagant things like traveling or zip lining, but others say things like spending time with their family or eating their favorite food. Whatever sounds fun for you could be anything. My question for you is, what is stopping you from doing fun things?
There is a quote that goes something like – Every day does not have to be fun, but you can do something fun every day.
I really enjoy swinging on swings, riding rollercoasters, seeing the mountains, and drinking coffee. Some things like rollercoasters and mountains I do not get to enjoy every day, but I make plans to see and do these fun things because it is important to me. Swinging on swings is not always something I do, but I live by a couple of parks and get to swing, or sit on higher chairs when I go places and let my feet dangle for fun. I do drink coffee almost every day. Now that I do not work at a coffee shop, I get to enjoy coffee more. It is more special to me, and I am trying to purchase coffee to have at home that supports different communities.
Take some time this week to look at what you have done over the last 200 some days this year. Look ahead over the next 150 some to see what you can do to have more fun. Start making plans, or be spontaneous. I like a mixture. — It is equally important to schedule time for rest, too. Being too busy can get in the way of having fun and resting. Maybe you have to say ‘no’ to a few things to make your life more fun. I know I had to, but I am glad I did.
I hope and pray that you not only read what I have written and agree with me, but that you take action by having fun.
Cheers to fun times ahead as we continue living out the year 2022! – Em
