A Time to Look Back at 2024

Well, if this year did not turn out how you thought it was going to, you are not alone. I really had good intentions to write a book this year, but I only got as far as writing an outline. Even though I did not reach my goal, I did accomplish a lot this year! In case you were curious, here is my list…

January: Made some hair pieces for my dance costumes that turned out really pretty.

February: Saw Jessica Vosk in concert, did a painting project, and flew away to London.

March: Turned 30 in London visiting my cousin, and took a day trip to Paris. Came back to the USA, and had dancers dance well at dance competitions. Got to see Annie F Downs speak live at a women’s retreat that my mom and I went to, and started sponsoring a child through Compassion International.

April: Wrapped up choreography for the season, and worked on the Barbie production number — lots of dance while also keeping up with my day job.

May: Another dance recital in the books. Paid off my car loan, and started packing while looking for a new place to live closer to my day job.

June: Signed a new apartment lease, continued packing, and said goodbye to my grandpa- he is now in heaven.

July: Moved into my new apartment, unpacked all of my things, and took the summer off of dancing.

August: Started with a visit to my sister’s city, ended with camping, and catching my first northern pike.

September: Completed 1 year at my day job, started my 9th year teaching dance, and finally felt like I knew where I was driving when going places in my new town.

October: Walked a 5k with my coworker, continued adjusting to my new schedule, and switched to a new church that is only 5 minutes from my new apartment.

November: Decorated for Christmas, enjoyed family time, saw Wicked Part 1, and bought a new tv.

December: Celebrated at many Christmas parties, enjoyed time with family, got to see the musical Mamma Mia, started taking classes at Pure Barre in my new town, and enjoyed looking back at all I accomplished this year even if it was not how I thought this year would go.

It really was a good year. I hope that you take a look back through your photos and social media posts to see what you all did over the last 12 months, too.

As you look forward to making plans for the next 12 months, remember that some of the best moments come from little to no planning while other plans that take months to make can also be life changing. Cheers to the turn of a new year!
