The office space that I work in is smaller than a normal doctor office waiting room area. We do have an accent wall that is getting the paint touched up, and many people asked me which color it was going to end up being since it is hard to tell as you can see in the picture.
Lately I have been thinking about how in life we often talk about coming from a vacation or looking forward to a vacation. We go from work to the next thing whether it is for ourselves or for others in our lives we are always coming from one thing and going on to the next thing. Much like the paint we can find ourselves in moments where we are both coming from and going towards something whether it is in our daily, professional, or vacation lives. Both are not bad. It gets bad when we have lost track of what is what. That doesn’t mean we won’t get back on track. It just means we need to slow down, reflect, and figure out what we can do to keep putting one foot in front of the other.
The pressure to be perfect comes from many angles in our lives.
I have been seeing a variety of posts on social media about how many weeks are left in 2023. This year has not gone at all like I thought it was going to go. I have learned to take what needs to be done in small doses. I try each day to do at least one thing that will help set me up for a better tomorrow. I do plan ahead, and I am looking forward to my trip to London that I have in the works. I do work towards being a better dance teacher than I was the previous year. I challenge myself to be a better choreographer than I was before, and I have seen great progress from how I started off 8 years ago. I do my best to be my best at my day job trying to do things that will help make my coworkers work easier. I look at the pressure coming from social media, I acknowledge that it exists, and I continue on as I did before because more often than not social media is a collection of people’s best moments rather than who they actually are.
I fell a little behind on my goal for this year with my blog, but I know I can catch up. This is my 96th post. My plan is to end the year with my 100th post. I am so close!! I continue to journal weekly, write lesson plans for dance, and write one or two blog posts a month. I signed up to take a book writing class for next weekend since I have always said that I want to write a book. I do not know if I will be able to both work on a book and a blog, but that is a future decision that I have time to make. Just because I am going to learn about book writing coming from a blogger’s perspective does not mean I cannot do both at the same time. (Do you see what I did there?!?!)
Coming from where you are and having a direction you are going is a beautiful thing. Sometimes we will need to do a few coats of paint or repaint when we decide on a different color, but that is what keeps life exciting. Remember that there is always going to be more things to come away from and even more things to pick from when going towards what is next. Many options exist. It is okay to change your mind once you start. If other people are involved or would have their lives changed due to your change, remember to include them in your decision and to be kind to them.
Remember: No matter what you are coming and going from that rest is needed. No matter how young or old you are, make sure you have time to rest. Let whatever you are working on be half done. It is okay. If you do not take care of yourself, you will not be able to take care of others as well as you think you might be able to.
Also Remember: To make time for FUN! Life is too short to live our day to day life without a little fun sprinkled in!
