A Time for Vacation: Day 5 and Beyond

Time is a funny thing. Even though each minute takes the same amount of time every day, some days seem to go faster than others. It felt like the week before leaving for vacation took forever. The 5 days of vacation were the perfect amount of time. Since vacation, time seems to be flying by so fast. I am not sure what it is that makes us feel like time moves at a different pace, but that won’t stop me from enjoying what I can.

Perhaps I put off writing about the last day of vacation as a way to keep it from ending. We got to go out for brunch, gambled, and packed up. We got back to see Martha Stewarts restaurant open in the Paris Hotel. Our flight home went smoothly, and we got back just as the flash flood hit Las Vegas. It was only hours that could have made the difference of if we were able to get home or not.

Since coming back from vacation, I have been getting ready for the new dance season to begin. I have been both overwhelmed and underwhelmed with this new season beginning. I knew that time would go quickly after vacation as that only gave me one month until classes started. I have 23 classes each week that I have been scheduled. With going into my 7th season I feel way more prepared without having anything prepared as I have taught all of these styles and ages before. I knew that if I planned to just sit for 4 hours or so I could get most of what I wanted to done, so that is what I did.

I also got to go to 6 Flags, and I am going camping this weekend. I went to see the Mean Girls Musical that finally came into town after being postponed from the cast having had covid when they were originally scheduled to come here. I have enjoyed going places and doing fun things while I have the time. I am ready to get into a rhythm of what my new schedule will look like as it always takes a little while to get used to. I rely heavily on when I am at the studio to know what day of the week it is. I totally got my Tuesday and Wednesday switched from being at the studio on a Tuesday as that is usually my day off. Rhythms and patterns in life are a blessing!

I am hoping to keep up with my goal of posting once a week. As we all know, life happens. I have to use my creative energy carefully as I am now starting to write more for my day job, too. I got chills the first time I was referred to as the “writer” for the company. It was a cool feeling – almost like I wasn’t aware of how much I would enjoy being able to be paid to write. I am learning so much! I pray that I can always continue to learn and do new things, and I hope you do, too!

– Cheers to a new season in the atmosphere and in life.
